Ed Beckman Named Grand Praetor of Northern Missouri

Brothers of the St. Louis Alumni Chapter,

I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer so far.  My name is Ed Beckmann, and I was recently appointed as the new Grand Praetor for Northern Missouri.  I just wanted to take a moment and share with you all my background and some other Sigma Chi related information.

As far as my Sigma Chi story is concerned, I was initiated into the Epsilon Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi at Southeast Missouri State in January 2005.  My undergraduate roles and offices included serving as an Annotator, Derby Days Chairman, Magister, Pro Consul, and an IFC President.  I graduated in December 2008 with a degree in English Education.  After graduating, I became involved in the St. Louis area as an officer in the Epsilon Phi St. Louis Alumni Club, as a BLTW Facilitator in the Recruitment Division, and most recently as Chapter Advisor of the Tau Tau Chapter at Washington University.

Professionally, I work in the education field as an educator in the Hazelwood School District.  Next year, I will start a new position in my school district as an Instructional Specialist where I will serve as a coach and mentor to district teachers.  For most of my tenure in Hazelwood, I was a middle school English teacher and I also worked as a summer school principal.

My professional and my alumni journey as a Sigma Chi would not be possible without my family.  I am married to an Alpha Xi Delta named Jenn, and we have two young sons.  Eli is four years old, and Gabe was born this June.  The Sigma Chi pledge classes in 2031 and 2035 should be pretty interesting.

My primary philosophy as Grand Praetor is RBC- Ritual, Brotherhood, Club.  I want to make sure we're preserving and practicing our Ritual, holding each other to the highest standard of Brotherhood, and communicate Club business efficiently.  My goals include having Northern Missouri chapters as being Ritual certified, meeting key and important national fraternity deadlines in order to have all Northern Missouri chapters as potential Peterson winners, and to open up communication channels and networking opportunities.

If you ever need to contact me, please don't hesitate to reach me through this e-mail or my phone number listed below.  I'm honored to serve as the next Northern Missouri Grand Praetor, and I look forward to advancing the best interests of our fraternity.
